Wildflower damascus steel

Wildflower damascus steel, work in progressWork in progress - wildflower steel

Johan took this photo to document work-in-progress of new GoS wildflower patterned dials and he placed a folding rule next to is just as when he documents his blades. The wildflower pattern is created from one plate of layered damascus steel and this time Johan decided to see what result would be by increasing the number of layers to 192. It takes a master steel maker to first create a steel rod with 192 parallel layers and then apply his "magic" to create the patterns, again without the layers blending. As you can see, the layers are still separate!

One of these dials will make it into the first prototype of a GoS gold/damascus steel bicolor watch.

Patrik was one of the guests during the main VIP event of our new retailer in Macau on May 24th. This event premiered the new generation of our watch&knife sets. The knives for the new sets are sized as "gentlemans folder knives" and finished in the same way as the dial of the paired watch.
Patrik also participated in a VIP cocktail evening in Time&Space in Hong Kong.

Johan Gustafsson has now developed a new folder knife that is roughly half the size of his normal knives while still containing his trademark design elements. GoS can therefore now offer a gentleman's folder knife as an optional companion to a GoS watch. The knives are individually made to match the aesthetics of the watch.

Johan Gustafssons folder knifes are made in a liner-lock design, which means that the titanium liner
holding the blade in place also acts as a lock spring securing it in the open position. This lock is released by applying slight pressure on the spring, normally by use of the thumb.

GoS in Hong Kong

Patrik has just returned from a visit in Hong Kong where he met both our local agent for Hong Kong and Macau and the founder of Le Club Horloger, which is based in Shanghai.

Hong Kong is an amazing city and the size of the watch business and available collections is just staggering. There is a good knowledge about niche brands and independent watchmaking here and the initial feedback on our watches is very positive
