    Sarek

Sarek – a Swedish national treasure on your wrist   Watch / Info inquiry          SOLD OUT

Sarek premiered as a prototype during Baselworld 2016 and has the largest damascus steel dial we've made up to date and other details are manufactured in more traditional materials such as an all stainless steel case. This allows us to add design details that would otherwise be camouflaged by the damascus steel patterns. The case features subtle viking design hints inspired by viking bracelets and lug chamfers with curves also found in the GoS hands. Sarek is the first GoS model to be fitted with the new GoS crown which shaped much like the form of the hilt of a viking sword.

The pattern and natural coloring of the Sarek dial is inspired by the landscape of a valley in Sarek national park in Swedish Lapland. Sarek National Park is regarded to be a national treasure of Sweden and often referred to as Europe's last true wilderness area. It hosts the largest Moose (Älg) in Europe and is also home to 100 glaciers and six of Sweden’s 13 highest peaks. The park is 2000 square kilometers of majestic and untouched wilderness and its remoteness is matched only by the breathtaking beauty of its peaks, valleys and fast-running mountain rivers.

Sarek straps are made from selected Moose leather that has received a special treatment to have shrunken grain. The new GoS hands have a high gloss polished in a Dauphine finish with a center ridge, which will make them look more like the arrow and spear heads we've used as inspiration initially. The decoration and design of both chapter ring and case ring are inspired by authentic viking bracelets and broaches. Sarek is powered by a Soprod A10 movement, which is equipped with a custom rotor in a GoS triskele design finished in satinized black with polished bevels.

Like all GoS watches, every Sarek dial has a unique pattern and coloring but Sarek watches will share the same character.

  • Sarek - Akka

    Banner Sarek Akka

Sarek – Akka    Watch / Info inquiry          SOLD OUT - New Akka to be based on Norrsken

Sarek Akka marks a return to traditional uncolored Damascus steel and the main source of inspiration for this monochrome watch was found in the most impressive massif of Swedish Lapland – Akka. Akka is located just north of Sarek and is often referred to as "The Queen of Lapland" since Akka means "grandmother" or "goddess" in Sapmi language. The massif is surrounded by low growing mountain Birch, which is illustrated by scroll engravings on the watch bezel. This detailed engraving is made by master engraver Stanley Stoltz who is a legend among knife and rifle collectors.

The monochrome watch works well with colored straps and it is delivered with a chocolate brown GoS strap in premium Moose leather. However, GoS provides four different alternatives of which the lighter beige/brown also complements the monochrome Sarek Akka well. The Sarek chapter ring and the case ring both draw inspiration from authentic Viking bracelets and brooches. Sarek is also the first GoS model to feature the new GoS crown, which is shaped much like the form of a Viking sword hilt. The neck of the GoS crown is deeply recessed into the case, thereby securing the crown and mechanism from side impacts. The hands are high gloss polished in a Dauphine finish with a center ridge which bears a closer resemblance to the Viking arrow and spear heads that inspired the first GoS hands.

The Sarek is powered by a Soprod A10 movement that has been customized with a GoS triskele rotor. The dark GoS rotor has a circular satinization as finish and is equipped with an additional counter weight made from Damascus steel. The counter weight is finished for maximum contrasts on the surface and high gloss polished bevels.

Sarek – Glacier & Sarek - Sunset   Watch / Info inquiry

GoS introduced the Sarek collection in 2016 with dial patterns that emulated the elaborate and ever-changing waterways in the Sarek National Park. A number of variations and bespoke elements have since then been introduced as well as dials that resemble the famous northern lights of Lapland.  Northern lights are by far the most famous light phenomenon of the north, but the colorful Autumn Sunsets can be just as spectacular.

GoS tempered damascus steel dials have deep and dynamic colors, but one limitation is that they do not emit any light. Mother-of-pearl is translucent and let both color and light through the material. GoS is the first watch brand to use this property and present mother-of-pearl dials that glows in colors.  Patrik Sjögren has developed the combination during two years to perfect two favorite themes, sunset orange and ice blue, as seen in glaciers and thick ice. The elegant and colorful dials are framed with a bezel made from Swedish stainless damascus steel.

Premium tapered strap and Swiss madedeployant buckle
GoS watch straps normally are made from moose leather sourced by GoS. However, the Sarek collections dress watch qualities are sometimes better matched with a tapered strap in a more glossy leather. We now offer alternatives to further personalize the watch in both leather qualities and stitching to match or contrast the dial´s color range. The deployant buckles are Swiss made and supplier´s patented and elegant snap lock mechanism has been proven to be flawless by major premium watch brands.

The elegance of the unique dials in mother-of-pearl is matched with new GoS presentation boxes in Swedish crystal. • Sarek - Ice Blue

    Sarek Sarek Ice Blue BANNER

Sarek – Ice Blue   Watch / Info inquiry           SOLD OUT - New Ice Blue to be based on Norrsken

Patrik Sjögren developed the GoS Ice Blue tempering of Johan Gustafsson's hand-forged Damascus steel for the Nordic Seasons collection in 2012. The idea was to use traditional heat tempering but to carefully increase the temperature above what results in the dark blue, which is common in watchmaking, to instead achieve brighter blue nuances.
Patrik creates separate blue nuances for the two different steel types in the Damascus steel pattern by tempering the dial in multiple steps. The colors of tempered steel are created when light is reflected on the surface and slightly different nuances can be experienced based on the angle of reflection and the light source. These dynamics combined with the highly detailed and reflective surface results in a dial that is both elegant and eye-catching. GoS introduced the Nordic Seasons Winter during Baselworld 2012 and the Ice Blue tempering was featured again in the first GoS dress watch Bifrost two years after. Patrik and Johan have now further refined both the steel patterns and dial finishing and are proud to add Sarek Ice Blue to the GoS collection.

Sarek Ice Blue is delivered with a Moose leather strap and GoS offers four different choices of which the lighter Khaki or the glossy black are expected to be the most popular alternatives with this dial.

The Sarek is powered by a Soprod A10 movement that has been customized with a GoS triskele rotor. The triskele design is the GoS version of the famous Viking symbol with three interlocked horns and has been present on GoS watches since GoS was founded 10 years ago. The dark rotor is finished with a circular satinization and is equipped with an additional counter weight made from German Silver. The counter weight is hand-finished with polished bevels and circular satinization on the top for maximum contrasts.

  • Sarek - Midnight Blue

    Sarek midnight blue banner.goswatches

Sarek – Midnight Blue   Watch / Info inquiry             SOLD OUT - New Midnight Blue to be based on Norrsken

This Sarek model has what we believe is the most stylish and elegant Damascus steel dial ever made - Midnight Blue. The dial colors depend on lighting and the matte dial surfaces seamlessly change from satin black to anthracite while the polished surfaces vary between deep blue and piano black. Patrik Sjögren developed the Ice Blue tempering of Johan Gustafsson's hand-forged Damascus steel for theNordic Seasons collection in 2012. The goal was then to achieve a nuance that resembled thick ice and was achieved by applying a higher temperature than whats normal in a steel tempering process. The Ice Blue tempering has then been continuously improved on and reoccurring in other models of the GoS collection.

During autumn of 2017, Patrik developed a new finishing method with the goal to introduce a dark and more elegant dial. The separate nuances of black and blue in the Damascus steel pattern are a result of combining a contrast finishing with tempering in multiple steps. The colors of tempered steel are created when light is reflected on the surface. Different nuances are experienced when light source or reflection angle changes.

Sarek Midnight Blue is delivered with a Moose leather strap and GoS offers four different choices of which the lighter Khaki or the glossy black are expected to be the most popular alternatives with this dial.

The Sarek is powered by a Soprod A10 movement that has been customized with a GoS triskele rotor. The triskele design is the GoS version of the famous Viking symbol with three interlocked horns and has been present on GoS watches since GoS was founded 10 years ago. The counter weight is hand-finished with polished bevels and circular satinization on the top for maximum contrasts.

  • Sarek Ladies

Sarek Ladies – a Swedish national treasure on your wrist   Watch / Info inquiry

Damascus steel is generally thought of as being raw and unpolished. However, GoS has shown that it is possible to manufacture elegant and exclusive watches from our hand forged steel and we are proud to announce the first GoS ladies watch.
The Sarek Ladies is the first ever women's watch with a damascus steel dial. Johan Gustafsson has a unique ability to extract natural vibrant colors from his hand forged steel, which we use in the Sarek to the fullest. The idea of making watches based on a National Park was initiated and developed by Patrik Sjögren and Johan Gustafsson during the winter of 2015/2016 and introduced with a prototype of a Sarek men's watch during Baselworld 2016. GoS then continued to develop the men's watch but also started to work on a ladies model. The ladies model shares some of the Viking inspired details that were introduced with the men's Sarek while adding new details such as the strap screws. The elliptic grooves on the case ring which GoS premiered on the men´s Sarek have been made more elegant and the whole case is high gloss polished. Another striking difference us the index markers of Sarek Ladies, which opened to show the colored steel below. The slightly sloped case interior provides more light to the indexes and provides a surface on which the colored damascus steel is reflected.

The patterns and tempered natural coloring of the Sarek damascus steel dials are inspired by the landscape of a valley in Sarek national park in Swedish Lapland. Sarek National Park is regarded as a Swedish national treasure and is often referred to as Europe's last true wilderness area. It hosts the largest Moose (Älg) in Europe and is also home to 100 glaciers and six of Sweden’s 13 highest peaks. The hands of the Sarek Ladies are high gloss polished in a Dauphine finish with a center ridge to emphasize our inspiration from Viking arrow and spear heads. Sarek is powered by a Soprod A10 movement, which is equipped with a custom GoS triskele rotor, finished in satinized dark grey with am additional rhodinized counter weight. The Sarek Ladies is available with black Sarek Moose leather strap or optional pastel colored straps in high-quality leather, all fitted with a stainless steel folding clasp.

Shapes from Viking sword handles were the main source of inspiration when we designed the new GoS crown. The result is a unique crown that is highly ergonomic.

  • Sarek Ladies - Midnight Blue

    Sarek ladies midnight blue banner.goswatches

Sarek Ladies – Midnight Blue - Handmade elegance   Watch / Info inquiry

This Sarek model has what we believe is the most stylish and elegant Damascus steel dial ever made - Midnight Blue. The dial colors depend on lighting and the matte dial surfaces seamlessly change from satin black to anthracite while the polished surfaces vary between deep blue and piano black. Patrik Sjögren developed the Ice Blue tempering of Johan Gustafsson's hand-forged Damascus steel for the Nordic Seasons collection in 2012.

The slightly sloped case interior provides more light to the indexes and provides a surface on which the colored dial is reflected.

The park is 2000 square kilometers of majestic and untouched wilderness and its remoteness is matched only by the breathtaking beauty of its peaks, valleys, and fast-running mountain rivers.

  • Sarek Trollius

    Sarek Trolliusheader

Sarek Trollius   Watch / Info inquiry                            SOLD OUT - New Trollius to be based on Norrsken

The Sarek Trollius introduce another layer of artistic complexity with an engraved piece and gold accents. The watch is a result of a collaboration with Swedish artisan Anders Hedlund, who is regarded to be one of the world´s best knifemakers and engravers.

Anders Hedlund make knives that are loved by collectors all around the world. He mainly exhibit at special invitation-only events, primarily in the US, and is one of the exclusive knife makers to exhibit at the bi-annual Solvang invitational knife show, Solvang California. He is also a regular exhibitor at East Coast Custom knife show, which was held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 2018. He rarely competes with his knives nowadays but still has a total of 20 wins in different classes of the Swedish annual championships. He has won several awards at international knife shows too and received the "Best in Show" award at the Solvang Invitational custom Knife show 2018. Last year Anders was also was awarded the "Wooden Sword award" presented by the book "Knives 2018", which is the most desired award among knife makers, similar to the Oscars of film making.

Anders suggested the use of polished 24k gold pins, which is something premium knifemakers use to embellish their work. The working-name of the new watch became Sarek Trollius as Trollius Europaeus is a flower with yellow buds that is common in the Sarek National Park of northern Sweden. The scrollwork for the watch is similar to the petals of the Trollius flower and the gold pins emulate the yellow buds. Patrik Sjögren learned the technique to be able to introduce gold pins onto the dial as well.

GoS introduced the Sarek collection in 2016 with dial patterns that emulated the elaborate and ever-changing waterways in the Sarek National Park. A number of variations and bespoke elements have since then been introduced as well as dials that resemble the famous northern lights of Lapland. For Sarek Trollius, both the dial and the rotor counterweight are made from Johan Gustafsson´s dense and organic damascus steel. The dial is in Johan's wildflower pattern and the rotor is a cutout from a traditional ladder woodgrain damascus. Sarek Trollius is the first GoS watch to feature engraved movement parts.

Premium tapered strap and Swiss made deployant buckle
GoS watch straps normally are made from moose leather sourced by GoS. However, the Sarek collections dress watch qualities are sometimes better matched with a tapered strap in a more glossy leather. We now offer alternatives to further personalize the watch in both leather qualities and stitching to match or contrast the dial´s color range. The deployant buckles are Swiss made and supplier´s patented and elegant snap lock mechanism has been proven to be flawless by major premium watch brands.

Case can be made in solid gold as special order

The Sarek model can be made in all 18k red-gold or white gold. A bi-color with the center ring in white gold and case back, lugs and bezel in 18k-red gold would also work well as it highlights the handsculpted gold pins just as the stainless steel case.
