Sarek Rissa II

GoS introduced the Sarek collection in 2016, debuting dials of hand-forged Damascus steel whose flowing patterns echo the intricate and ever-changing waterways of Sweden’s Sarek National Park. Since then, the collection has continued to evolve—embracing new materials, techniques, and design expressions, both with and without Damascus steel dials.

The Sarek Rissa became the second watch in the renewed Sarek line, the result of two years of development by Patrik Sjögren. This updated edition features a refined 41.5mm case—slightly smaller in diameter yet maintaining nearly the same thickness despite housing a more substantial movement. Every detail has been revisited with a craftsman’s precision: the lugs, for instance, have been shortened and reshaped to harmonize perfectly with the signature GoS crown.

The second generation of the Sarek Rissa introduces yet another level of refinement, incorporating case finishing techniques first explored in the Sarek Frost. The most notable advancement, however, is a collaboration with Swiss guilloché artist Calina Shevlin. A former artisan at Breguet and now a respected master and teacher of her craft, Shevlin developed an exclusive hand-hammered frosting technique for GoS. This delicate finish decorates the recessed area surrounding the crystal chapter ring, adding an almost tactile visual depth unique to this piece.

The origin of the Sarek Rissa lies in a bespoke commission—a client desired the shimmering, lagoon-green expression of the Norrsken Rissa within a slightly smaller case. Patrik Sjögren collaborated with guilloché master Jochen Benzinger, who adapted the Northern Lights–inspired guilloché pattern for a new movement featuring a central seconds hand. Work began in June 2023, and when the first piece was completed that September, its beauty was so striking that Patrik decided to offer it as an official GoS model in limited production.

A signature feature of the Sarek Rissa is its glass index ring, an innovation first seen in the Norrsken collection. Set within the silver dial, it reveals a glimpse of the perlage beneath—its shimmering depth enhanced by reflections of lagoon-green hues along the ring’s enamelled edge. This detail, achieved through the hand-application of enamel to the glass rim, gives the watch an ethereal quality that changes with the light, much like the Nordic landscapes that inspire it.

La Joux-Perret introduced a new automatic movement with a 65 hour power reserve in 2021 and this is the movement of choice for the 2nd edition of Sarek. The G101 movements are manufactured to GoS specification, which includes the anthrazite finish, and are equipped with a skeletonized and beveled rotor. The rotor is then further embellished with a GoS triskele emblem in gold finish.

The production of the new Sarek Rissa is currently limited to five pieces per year.
