  Named after the Northern Lights, this timepiece captures the appearance of swirling green lights dancing across northern skies. The watch draws upon the expertise of various artisans and encompasses a choice of a Damascus steel dial or a hand-guilloché dial. A handblown index ring, formed of Swedish crystal, allows an extraordinary degree of luminescence to pass through its clear surface, flooding the dial with vivid green tones.

  The Norrsken is available with a choice of case rings, dials and bezels. At the heart of the watch is the Calibre GoS03, featuring premium finishing and a customised micro-rotor hand-forged in Damascus steel.

  GoS, based in Linköping, Sweden is proud of its Scandinavian heritage. Over the years, we have created watches inspired by Scandinavian history and nature and the Norrsken, the Swedish term for the Northern Lights, emulates the appearance of this natural phenomenon. 

  The Norrsken, housed in a 41.5mm stainless steel case, encompasses an array of materials. It is available with a Damascus steel dial, a material synonymous with GoS, or a hand-guilloché dial. This latter option is produced in collaboration with the renowned guilloché specialist, Jochen Benzinger. Both dial options evince the same captivating green hue. GoS can also manufacture the case in precious metals upon request.

  The Damascus steel dial is hand-forged and features a unique Northern Lights motif. It combines matte black and high-gloss polished emerald green tones and depicts the animated motion of the Northern Lights swirling colors. An index ring, encircling the dial, is produced by Swedish master craftsman, Mikael Kenlind of Vas Vitreum. This clear index ring is hand-sculpted and handblown in Swedish crystal, a rare form of glass seldom seen outside of the country. Twelve small fixation points hold the index ring in place, allowing a degree of flex and thereby mitigating the risk of damage should the watch be subject to impact.

  James Thompson and his company, Black Badger, again based in Sweden, provide an insert ring cast from solid Badgerite. This solid lume material, developed in collaboration with Swiss firm, RC Tritec, the makers of Super-LumiNova, is positioned behind the glass index ring. The clear glass ring refracts light into the case, creating a mesmerising green shimmer. A further application of lume is positioned below the index ring near the exposed dial area, enhancing the readability of the indexes. A special colour of lume and method of application were developed specifically for this watch. This means of illumination shuns any form of electronics or high-tech luminescence, concepts alien to GoS, a firm which is renowned for employing traditional handcraftsmanship.
  Spear-shaped hour and minute hands convey the prevailing time, while the GoS triskele indicates the running seconds. Both the index ring and seconds display are recessed within the dial which is filled with SuperLumiNova.

  With the Northern Lights Damascus steel dial, a series of Super-LumiNova dots are positioned below the GoS triskele seconds hand, producing an animated effect as the hand rotates. Like the dial, the case of the Norrsken is also available in two main variants. One option features a highly polished stainless-steel case ring, while a second version is endowed with a Damascus steel case ring. The bezel and the caseback are facetted, accentuating the appearance of the fluted case ring. The bezel is available in a choice of highly polished stainless steel or Damascus steel, both finished in the GoS workshop. Furthermore, all pin buckles are forged of Damascus steel, produced by GoS, and feature the brand’s triskele logo.

  The caseback is fitted with a pane of sapphire crystal allowing the wearer to view the automatic movement within. The Calibre GoS03 is made by movement specialist Schwarz Etienne and customized by GoS. It encompasses premium finishing, including hand-polished bevels and specific modifications requested by GoS, including a dedicated escape wheel bridge. We equip the movement with our own micro-rotor, hand-forged in Damascus steel. Its upper surface is suffused with shades of green and black, matching the appearance of the dial. The micro-rotor sits flush with the neighboring bridges, mitigating the height of the movement and providing unrestricted views of numerous beautifully finished components. The ratchet wheel is adorned with the GoS triskele emblem. When the mainspring is fully wound, the watch will run autonomously for 86 hours.

  The collection is named after the Northern Lights, which this timepiece captures in a swirling pattern that resembles lights dancing across northern skies. All previous colors have been developed to showcase one of the possible colors of northern lights, while this one Norrsken Rissa, was developed upon a request from a client. The client wanted a color that was in between green and blue, "like a lagoon", but as always we searched for inspiration in Swedish nature and Patrik recalled a hike up to the northernmost lake in Sweden - Lake Rissa (Rissajaure). Rissa is very close to Abisko, which is the best location for northern-lights spotting in Sweden, and has the clearest water of any lake in Europe, which probably is why it shifts between green and blue colors depending on light. The dial of Norrsken Rissa share this dynamic expression as can be seen in the photos of the first Norrsken Rissa watch.

  GoS introduced the Sarek collection in 2016 with damascus dials, whose patterns mimicked the elaborate and ever-changing waterways of Sarek National Park. The collection has since evolved with new elements and variants both with and without Damascus steel dials but always with the same technical specification.

  The Sarek Rissa is the second watch in the updated Sarek collection, which Patrik Sjögren has worked on for two years. The updated Sarek is slightly smaller in diameter with its 41.5mm and the thickness could be kept almost the same even though the new movement is thicker. A lot of effort has gone into refinement of the already existing design elements. One example of this is seen in the lugs that have been shortened and re-shaped to match the GoS crown.

  The Sarek Rissa came about when a client wished to have the expression of the lagoon-green Norrsken Rissa in a slightly smaller case. Patrik Sjögren discussed the idea with Guilloché master Jochen Benzinger who confirmed that he could adapt the northern-lights guilloché pattern to work on a dial with a center seconds hand for a different movement and the project was started in June 2023. GoS sometimes introduce bespoke pieces as official GoS models and the Sarek Rissa was so spectacular when it was finished in September, that Patrik decided to offer it to other GoS clients in a limited production.

  Sarek Rissa has a glass index ring, which is a detail that originated in the Norrsken collection. The ring is recessed into the silver dial and allows a view through onto the perlage pattern in the recess beneath and reflecting lagoongreen colors from the sides. This is accomplished by hand-applying lagoon-green enamel to the outer edge of the
  glass ring.

  La Joux-Perret introduced a new automatic movement with a 65 hour power reserve in 2021 and this is the movement of choice for the 2nd edition of Sarek. The G101 movements are manufactured to GoS specification, which includes the anthrazite finish, and are equipped with a skeletonized and beveled rotor. The rotor is then further embellished with a GoS triskele emblem in gold finish.

  The production of the new Sarek Rissa is limited to five pieces per year.

    polished while the surface receives a horizontal fine satinization for increased contrasts. The case back and lugs are polished except for the top of the lugs that have a straight satinization

  The Sarek Trollius introduce another layer of artistic complexity with an engraved piece and gold accents. The watch is a result of a collaboration with Swedish artisan Anders Hedlund, who is regarded to be one of the world´s best knifemakers and engravers. 

  Anders Hedlund make knives that are loved by collectors all around the world. He mainly exhibit at special invitation-only events, primarily in the US, and is one of the exclusive knife makers to exhibit at the bi-annual Solvang invitational knife show, Solvang California. He is also a regular exhibitor at East Coast Custom knife show, which was held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 2018. He rarely competes with his knives nowadays but still has a total of 20 wins in different classes of the Swedish annual championships. He has won several awards at international knife shows too and received the "Best in Show" award at the Solvang Invitational custom Knife show 2018. Last year Anders was also was awarded the "Wooden Sword award" presented by the book "Knives 2018", which is the most desired award among knife makers, similar to the Oscars of film making.

  Anders suggested the use of polished 24k gold pins, which is something premium knifemakers use to embellish their work. The working-name of the new watch became Sarek Trollius as Trollius Europaeus is a flower with yellow buds that is common in the Sarek National Park of northern Sweden. The scrollwork for the watch is similar to the petals of the Trollius flower and the gold pins emulate the yellow buds. Patrik Sjögren learned the technique to be able to introduce gold pins onto the dial as well.

  GoS introduced the Sarek collection in 2016 with dial patterns that emulated the elaborate and ever-changing waterways in the Sarek National Park. A number of variations and bespoke elements have since then been introduced as well as dials that resemble the famous northern lights of Lapland. For Sarek Trollius, both the dial and the rotor counterweight are made from Johan Gustafsson´s dense and organic damascus steel. The dial is in Johan's wildflower pattern and the rotor is a cutout from a traditional ladder woodgrain damascus. Sarek Trollius is the first GoS watch to feature engraved movement parts.

  Premium tapered strap and Swiss made deployant buckle
  GoS watch straps normally are made from moose leather sourced by GoS. However, the Sarek collections dress watch qualities are sometimes better matched with a tapered strap in a more glossy leather. We now offer alternatives to further personalize the watch in both leather qualities and stitching to match or contrast the dial´s color range. The deployant buckles are Swiss made and supplier´s patented and elegant snap lock mechanism has been proven to be flawless by major premium watch brands.

  The Sarek model can be made in all 18k red-gold or white gold. A bi-color with the center ring in white gold and case back, lugs and bezel in 18k-red gold would also work well as it highlights the handsculpted gold pins just as the stainless steel case.

  Watch Connaisseurs who are familiar with the first edition of Sarek Trollius will immediately recognize the case engraving elements and gold accents by Swedish craftsman Anders Hedlund. The stronger expression of the new Sarek lugs also provides more surface area for Anders to adorn, as does the back of the case which is now home to a mirrored engraving of the bezel as well as elaborate scroll patterns that frame the engraved text.

  The origin of the Trollius name came when Anders and Patrik decided to introduce hand-polished gold pins as a design element. Polished 24k gold pins are something premium knife makers sometimes use to embellish their work. Trollius Europaeus (Globeflower) is a flower with yellow buds that is common in Sarek National Park in northern Sweden. The scrollwork for the watch resembles the petals of the Trollius flower and the gold pins emulate the yellow buds. A refinement introduced with the 2nd edition is the straight grinding by Anders in the elliptical grooves before he rivets and polish the gold pins. This finishing detail creates a contrast between the grooves in the case ring while highlighting the polished gold pins themselves.

  A prominent new feature is the use of a glass ring as chapter ring, which is a detail that originated in the Norrsken collection. The ring is recessed into the damascus steel dial and allows a view through onto the pattern while certain angles instead create a golden glow within the glass. This is accomplished by hand-applying gold enamel both to the milled hour indexes but also to the outer edge of the glass ring.

• Skadi - Viking Goddess of Winter

  This model is limited to five pieces and combines black damascus steel with red gold and glacier-blue luminous Mother of Pearl to illustrate the landscape ruled by Skadi - the Winter Goddess in Norse Mythology. Skadi is pronounced Skah-dee and she personifies strength, courage, and endurance. Her most mentioned attributes are her bow and skis as she is very skilled at using them both to hunt and to engage in battle.
  GoS hands and movement components in Johan Gustafsson´s damascus steel have been featured in previous GoS models but they are re-introduced with further refinement in Skadi. The engraving on both case lugs and movement is done by master knifemaker Anders Hedlund, who also does the outstanding engraving work on Sarek Trollius. GoS introduce another master craftsman to the GoS collective as master goldsmith Peter deWit cast the gold parts for the case and also fit the premium quality blue sapphires in all indexes and the damascus steel crown.

  GoS developed the black damascus steel during 2018 and it was first introduced in the collaboration with Singer Reimagined and the unique piece Track1 Black Damascus for OnlyWatch 2019. A damascus steel pattern can become less visible when coated and the contrasts within the pattern is lost. However, the qualities of the industry strength PVD coating that GoS use beautifully show the contrasts of the pattern. The black polished elements of the patterned steel are indeed deep black but also sparkle with light reflections.

  The dial is made from white Mother of Pearl, which is both colored and backlit through clever use of modern Swiss Super-Luminova. Patrik Sjögren developed this technique during 2018 and it was first introduced in Sarek Glacier during Baselworld 2019. The icy blue glow has a close resemblance to the light reflections in a snowy landscape during a moonlit night.

  The collaboration with Master knifemaker Anders Hedlund continues as he engraves both the sides of the lugs with a viking knot pattern and the damascus steel bridges of the movement. The movement bridges are manufactured from one solid piece of Johan Gustafsson´s artistic damascus steel. The finishing is done by Patrik Sjögren who has further refined the finishing from damscus steel movements GoS introduced in 2012. The goal is to achieve a maximum contrast of the damascus steel pattern and to combine that with high gloss polished bevels.

  Anders suggested to draw inspiration from Viking shield decoration and to fill the engraving with gold for maximum contrast to the damascus steel. During 2018, Anders Hedlund received "Best in Show" award at the Solvang Invitational custom Knife show and also received the "Wooden Sword award" presented by the book "Knives 2018". That award is widely regarded as being acknowledged as the world's best knifemaker.

  GoS watch straps are normally made from moose leather sourced by GoS but the default strap for Skadi is glossy black Alligator. However, we offer alternatives to further personalize the watch with straps in different leather qualities and stitching. No.1 was delivered with a Swiss made deployant buckle while No.2-5 are delivered in a tounge-buckle in solid 18K gold, handmade in the GoS workshop.
